Re: Usability and Streamlining turn flow on PSP

Keep in mind that Usability and design are only a part of the total work required to create a game, and I have to make priorities for each release. Oh believe me, I'm well familiar with making tradeoffs on features and usability. I just find that knowing people care enough to actually offer constru...

Match Reward Alternatives

While I was brainstorming UI-related things, I hit upon a few other things, too. One of them was jogged by the discussion in the Shop Improvements thread, where the complaint was raised that the cost of boosters was much higher than the benefits of winning a match. In that tanent, one person suggest...

Re: Usability and Streamlining turn flow on PSP

EDIT: Just noticed another one that's quite uncool: automatically discarding the leftmost card at the end of the turn is very much not friendly for users. D: Just click on the card you want to discard at the "cleanup" step. The end of the turn discard happens only if you didn't correctly discard, i...

Re: Usability and Streamlining turn flow on PSP

Pulled down the source tree, but haven't had super-thorough browse quite yet. I did, howeve, think up Even More Ideas (work)! (Disclaimer: Yes, I am very aware that some of these would be...uhm, non-trivial to implement.) Anyway: More Informative Shop - Shop should show list with name, set, rarity (...

Re: Usability and Streamlining turn flow on PSP

The main problem is what Wololo said. There are actions you are entitled to do at ANY time in the game that are not instants, as, tapping mana, or look through your deck . This is what makes it complicated. I still think something could be done. Like, an option "ask me to interrupt only if I have i...

Re: Usability and Streamlining turn flow on PSP

Here, guys; have a novella! Interesting write-up on the mechanics behind it, though I've now a strong desire to write an article about superficial and artificial mechanics. Maybe once I get done with my move. In short, there's a strong possibility that it is actually limiting the dimensions in which...

Re: Usability and Streamlining turn flow on PSP

Thats not how Magic works. You lose any unused mana inbetween phases. It doesnt carry over. Your mana is shown in the bottom left that you have in your pool. If you dont use it, you lose it. Thats the official ruling and how it will stand. That's interesting, if really poor game design. It enforces...

Usability and Streamlining turn flow on PSP

So I found this the other day and have played it a few times. Really not bad, either, especially as I like Magic. But in my playtesting, I've found a few usability bugs of varying difficulty that I was wondering if you could add to your tracker (speaking of which, you might be well served with a Tra...
