Can Pro-B8 brick a PSP go?

Postby eyaare » Wed Jul 20, 2011 7:02 pm

Okay. So I run Pro-B8 regularly and I'm wondering if it has any chance of bricking my PSP Go.

On the one hand, it writes to flash, which I'm told is bad. It's also CFW, obviously, so I would assume that there's always a chance.

But on the other hand, when I load up CFW, if I just turn my PSP off and then on again, it's gone and I have to run it again. So that would make me assume that it can't brick the PSP, because if something went wrong I could just restart the PSP and it would be good to go.

But then again, there's the PSP GO BRITE it keeps referring to when I run the CFW, which is apparently, like, the CFW but stored somewhere permanent on the PSP, even when the CFW isn't running?

So, yeah. Which is it- could something go wrong, is there a huge risk of that?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place or whatever, I'm really new to this stuff.

Basically, if you don't install permanent patch it does not overwrite anything, but writes required modules to flash0, which is fine. No original modules affected in this procedure.
Permanent patch is different, it overwrites vshmain.prx, but it also creates a backup of it.
So yeah, if you don't install permanent, you are 100% safe.

Yes it can, and others may say it can't, but when PRO-B8 was released and then installed, some bricks rose up, but the issue was fixed later on, but yes PRO-B can BRICK YOUR PSP.
* PSP 3001(03G) w/ an 8GB Memory Stick & 6.20 PRO-C2 Permanent
* Laptop - Acer Aspire 5742z w/ Windows7/8 & Ubuntu
* PS4 (Think I got enough to buy one when it comes out X_X)

I Don't Think The Non-Permanent Version Bricked PSP's?
Plus Only The Permanent Can Brick Just Like The Other Guy Said Because It Overwrites File's. So No Pro-B8 Cant Brick Your PSP It Does Not Overwrite Any Flash Files Unless You Use The Permanent Patch

i think he was referring to the 6.39 versions. when B8 was first released, it had bugs on the 6.35/39 versions, where 6.35 just crashed, and 6.39 bricked

The Brick Would Only Happen On Psp 100X's and 200X's because it was a permanent 6.39 so no it can't brick a GO Because like i said it does not overwrite but on Lower models you can use permanent 6.39 patch so it could brick because it overwrites flash0 files. Plus of course if you mess with flash it could also brick your PSP :lol:
