Need Help to install programs from tar.bz2 files on linux.

Can anyone pls tell me how to install/compile program after unpacking a file/folder from a compressed tar.bz2 file.

I started compiling wine using terminal and get this error - X files not installed.
And how can I run it please tell me because Every Search result i get gives me different way to install apps so it really confuses me and none of them works.

most guides i have tryed for linux works fine for me, maby its becorse you dont read it all and realize you will need root to install (most of the important things need root access) ... but i guess you will have to specify a bit more, for us to know what you are really are up to here ...

off topic: why did you create a new thread for ubuntu ... didnt you just create an ubuntu help thread like yestoday?

My bad luck continues.
After downloading wine using Package Manager I tried to run an executable program and see what I get -
The file '/media/06FCF3A2FCF38A67/Users/Irfan/Downloads/Programs/wrar400.exe' is not marked as executable. If this was downloaded or copied from an untrusted source, it may be dangerous to run. For more details, read about the executable bit.
And I can't change the permission of the file to read or read and write.
Can anyone Help me.

I don't get it, why do you want to install and use a windows program like winrar on linux? If you want rar support just install rar from the package manager and thats it, file-roller will create and extract rar files now.

I wnt Microsoft Office 2003 .
I think that i some how solved the problem .
Now linux is turning out to be interesting.
