Your Ultimate Guide to staying on a lower firmware.

Post by frillybob »

I'm sure a lot of you already know that firmware 6.35 (6.37 now!) was released. That is kind of sad and kind of a good thing at the same time. At least our console is still being supported by Sony.

The main reasons people update their PSP is for

1.activation
2.new games
3.online play
4.a "friend" updating it

Well let me tell you one thing you can enjoy 2/3 of the things I have just listed

First you'll need Media GO! http://us.playstation.com/psn/mediago/

Now you'll need to plug your PSP into your computer. Media go will start downloading an update for your PSP. Cancel the download. Now log into the PSN with your email and password.

To do #1 on the list you must now go to account management. You will be promted to input your email and password again. Now go down to Activate/Deactivate PSP™ System.

Then game content and click activate system. You'll be promted to download something. Make sure you click open with instead of download too. An activation screen will pop up and that's it click activate and that's it! Now update required!

To do #2 all you have to do is download the game/movie/comic of your choice. After it's done downloading right click and click transfer to (psp drive letter and nickname) that's it!

Unfourtuanly you CAN NOT PLAY ON THE PSN. Although on advancedpsp.tk I say a proxy way similar to the kind used to bypass system updates on the PS3. If anyone can confirm/recover/make sure that it still works that'd be great!

Oh and for #4 you need to get better friends!

As a side note I can confirm that Hot Shot's Golf Open Tee (not 2, 1) is NOT patched on the US PSN! Download ASAP they'll probably patch is as soon as TN HEN is released!

I hope this helped! Now you don't have to update! And if your thinking I can't live without the PSN just think before Christmas you can be playing again online with TN-A (considering that there's a version spoofer!)

Now let's see if Total Noob will port his HEN to 6.30/6.31 now that Sony has patched that. No word yet it patches the TN's HEN!

Comment below. I may upload screen shots later!

Mr. X My ultimate tip for staying on a lower firmware is to make sure the WiFi switch is off when you're not using it; I don't know how many times I've almost clicked on System Update whilst trying to put it into USB mode
