original post
I actually just realized my mp3 and ogg files I had renamed to .mid somehow got overwritten by my actual .mid files. When I re-ripped the music from my CD as mp3 or ogg, they don't work even with the .mid file naming.

I have tried the naming scheme of track02, track03 etc, as well as casa1, casa2 etc and neither work with my mp3/ogg files but do work fine with my mid files.

I'm not convinced there's not something wrong with my pak files, a long time ago I remember there was a website with all quake + related quake game files and their MD5 checksum but I can't find it. Would you mind posting the MD5 of the pak files you're using?

I also wondered if the .cfg file that's being generated doesn't have the correct bgmtype being set, would you also be able to upload the .cfg file you're using?
I finally got the music working! I had to copy over all my data1/portals files after using the Hammer of Thyrion 'mod' (you don't need the maps folder), and deleting the config.cfg in the portals folder(but leaving the default.cfg) letting the vita version create its own cfg file. (before I was deleting all of the .cfg files and letting the vita remake, but that didn't work)

I also had to rename my files from casa1, casa2 etc to Casa1, Casa2 (again I tried this previously but it seems to want the default.cfg file from Hammer of Thyrion).

I also edited my previous post with MP3/OGG version with proper naming as well as 192kbps and 320kbps/500kbps (max) quality versions.

I still didn't manage to make the music work even after following latest Al Capwn's hints and using his music tracks. Nothing works. I'm using official CD release of the game with latest patch (also tried Hammer of Thyrion). Here is my file structure in case someone can see something wrong here:

Portals folder is supposed to be portals. PSVita is case sensitive whilst Windows isn't.

Thanks, after lowercasing everything the music finally works.

The port is almost perfect, although due to resolution all in-game text is hard to read, so we're missing on story and lore when playing Hexen II on the vita. I've tried to change resolution to 480×272 to make the text readable (via config.cfg in portals dir), but the vid_config_y, vid_config_x settings seems to be ignored.

edit: looks like the Hammer of Thyrion port added option to scale the UI via slider in options that modifies vid_config_consize setting. It would be nice to have this feature in vita port.

Leaving the default 960x544 res would be the most legible, I agree it can be hard to read the small text but it should be very clear (just small).

Yeah I can't read anything, maybe I can mod the font but I have a lot of stuff going on right now.
Does it quit? If not, then it's legit... Too legit.

Re: [RELEASE] vitaHexenII - Hexen II port for PSVITA

A new release for vitaHexenII is available, reaching v.2.3.

Changelog:
- Drastic performance boost thanks to ARM NEON usage and vitaGL fixes.
- Added Anaglyph 3D support (red-cyan glasses only).
- Added support for custom crosshairs. (See below).
- Disabled FPU exceptions traps (Will make app less incline to crashes).
- vitaHexenII version will now be shown on main menu background.

Custom Crosshair:
Starting with vitaHexenII v.2.3, it will be possible to use a completely custom crosshair with the game.
To do so, you should create a file named xhair.bin and place it in ux0:data/Hexen II/GAMEFOLDER folder (GAMEFOLDER will be data1 for main Hexen II for example).
This file must contains 64 bytes that will define the 8x8 crosshair glyph. A byte set at 0xFE will mean a visible pixel. A byte set at 0xFF will mean an invisible pixel.
The custom crosshair usage can be enabled in Options menu. If no xhair.bin is provided, when Custom crosshair will be set, QuakeWorld crosshair2 will be used.
You can also alter crosshair color by setting these three values in config.cfg:
crosshaircolor_r, crosshaircolor_g, crosshaircolor_b.
By default these three values are set at 255, 255, 0.
