Custom Bubble Icons Possible with Henkaku??

Post by jakenastysnake »

Sup guys,

So Im running a PS Vita on 3.60 running Henkaku. I installed some emulators, but I really dont like the Retroarch icons. Especially since they are the same for each core. My question is, is it possible to switch these with a custom icon? I tried changing out the icon0.png and adding my own with the same size dimensions, then rebuilt the database but no dice. Any suggestions/ideas?

Modify your app.db and reboot. I'll explain better when I'm not about to pass out.
Does it quit? If not, then it's legit... Too legit.

Nvidia Shield Portable 48gb
Dreamcast: SEGA Sports - 80gb IDE HDD
4k PS3 Super Slim OFW 4.82
1k PSP: 6.60 ME-2.3
1K PSVita: Ensō 32GB - 64GB SD2VITA - 128GB PSVSD

You want to follow this guide
Click Me!

If you're using Henkaku then use FTP to dump your app.db, then skip to step 3.

Skip step 4 and use FTP to transfer the app.db back to your vita and reboot.

If you need help don't be afraid to ask.

Sorry for taking so long to respond. Thanks a lot for the help, I was able to get my app.db, modify in SQL lite editor, reupload and it worked a charm :D

You could also modify the .vpk archive and change the icon there (which would be permanent). Changing the icon0 in app.db only works until you rebuild the database again.

Interesting... I'm not sure how to modify a .vpk archive though. Do you have a link to a tutorial or something?

It's very easy, you change the .vpk extension to .zip and there you go.

It's relatively easy.

Once you get your pictures ready open Vitashell and go to ur0/appmeta/RetroXXXX

icon0.png is the bubble
startup.png is the icon you use to replace the start button
bg.png is the background image

Replace the image files you see there with your images using FTP. Then reboot your Vita. You'll need to find out what number each emulator is, which you can see by opening a file... somewhere. I can't remember. When I get home from work I can let you know what is what and provide pictures of my custom images.

All the other tutorials I've found make it much more complicated than that. I might write an easier to use tutorial when I get home as well.
