How could one decrypt psp gamesave for editing on pc( to hex edit ) ?

I know this might be seen as unethical due to reverse engineering/sony's stupid laws etc. But it's for educational purposes :D

so far all I've seen on the internet is this http://dl.qj.net/psp/homebrew-applicati ... eta-1.html I won't take responsibility if this **** up your psp/ps vita but is it safe to use

thanks in advance

I generally set PPSSPP to not encrypt saves, open the game save in PPSSPP, and save in another slot. Then you get a decrypted copy.

When you're done messing with it, just set it to encrypt saves and save in another slot and that slot is your edited, signed save.

Toggling the save encryption is done through an INI. Open the memstick folder, then the PSP folder, then there's a PPSSPP.INI in System in that folder.

EncryptSave = False
or
EncryptSave = True

to toggle.

I've thought about making a janky fix to let it be toggled ingame but I don't know if the emulator could handle it :/

I recommend to not use a crappy PSP emulator for exploit hunting, but an actual PSP.

Reason: Crappy is a better choice of wording. Don't you think?

PPSSPP isn't accurate at all in crashes, but it's good for memory editing and searching for addresses instead of memdumping from psplink. I've yet to have a situation where its memory and the PSP's haven't matched up.

When I was doing the Disgaea ***, I had the PSP plugged in on USB using PSPLink, the Vita plugged in through USB, and PPSSPP running.

PPSSPP's game signing is adequate and it's quite good for doing memory editing and comparing save files to memory changes, which is what the thread was about.

I guess Savegame Deemer could be used, but I couldn't stand dealing with it.

JPCSP, now. That's a terrible emulator. :/

SED will decrypt a save for editing, and you can use it to re-encrypt the save as well.
