It's never going to be possible... Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. If Sony wanted it to be possible at all they would have included the EE in the newer models. Emulating it via software just isn't feasible on the PS3.

But, there is an USB Dongle that can do that http://www.cobra-usb.com/ so, if a Dongle can do it, a homebrew can do it too.

The cobraUSB dongle doesn't emulate PS2 games. It allows the existing PS3 hardware to software emulate the EE chip. (and for note, yes, a homebrew on the PS3 could do so, but Cobra has kept that information very controlled, as it is very profitable to make people pay for DRM dongles than to just give it away.)

Its not an April Fools joke. It was posted in November, making it simply a hoax.

reminds me of some post a friend shared long ago. some project (most likely a hoax now, or scrapped) of an additional hardware for the slim PS3s which would allow them to be backwards compatible. but that single post is all i heard of it, and i haven't even bothered to look again

Really unlikely. Don't think that the psp hardware would be able to handle San Adreas without any changes to the code at all.

I always hoped for a San Andreas Stories game (Like LCS or VCS), but I guess it'll never be done.

It wil never ever be done on PSP. First of all, the city is too big for PSP. UMD disc won`t take so much information even with data install. Second, it`s too old game and R* isn`t EA, it always bring playrs something new instead of infinitive converting games to various consoles like EA is doing. If R* will do some GTA to PSP, it won`t be SA. Third, it`s about controls. PS2 has too many buttons, PSP hasn`t so much. And the last: PSP is already old platform, Sony is already paying attention to new console - Vita. So... Get used to it.
P.S. When I was younger, I was trying to find information about SA on PSP. I found only arguments against SA on PSP.

Everything above + Some even more relative points are discussed why it won't run(They are scattered here and there), its fake and never gonna happen. So why bump an old "soved" thread when it is trying to rest in peace?
