I used browserhax to dl ironfall and then load ironhax. I've tried mgba and blargsnes but neither of them run that well to be honest. It seems like they have been around for a while too. Is the 3DS not capable of running these? I feel like waiting for newer version won't make a difference?

You should try some of the retroarch cores. If you have kernel access you can use dynarec on some cores, that increases the speed alot.

You need ninjhax 1.0 to use dynarec on 9.2 and lower. Otherwise, you can use ninjhax 2.5 with mini-pasta and the GBA injection tools. Blargsnes is still a work in progress... Or was.
