Possible Kernel Exploit/Flaw

Post by KillerM33 »

Some random guy on Facebook just messaged me on Facebook about a supposed kernel exploit or flaw (wtf? i don't know the correct term) on the Vita System. I will message the flaw to trusted developers and moderators. I have a feeling that this forum is being watch by Sony. I do not have a hint of what he is trying to say (i can't understand his english) so i will leave it to you to understand what he is saying. I hope that he is not wasting our time. Any devs who are interested in the supposed "possible flaw" can pm me here or on facebook...

EDIT : i just messaged qwikrazor87,DS_Marine and Omega2058 about the "possible flaw"

There's a sticky thread named "Forum Rules. Read them first!"
viewtopic.php?f=54&t=15
You can find the answer in there. (I guess you didn't read them first :D)

And with all due respect, do you have an idea why a *random* superdev would contact *you* for delivered a most wanted psv secret? Why not contact a trusted dev direcly, and via pm - not facebook - .
You know that a real dev main communication channel is unlikely to be facebook, right?

This sounds super sketch and it doesn't make sense for someone to acquire the information and then hand it out. It's best to just take stuff like this with a grain of salt.

[08:42am] codezero: ehheehhe
[08:42am] codezero:
[08:42am] yifanlu: that's useless
[08:42am] yifanlu: it's not an exploit
[08:42am] codezero: the application and can sync with google calendar api
[08:43am] yifanlu: it's not an exploit
[08:43am] codezero: you have already tried to send code directly simulating google api?
[08:43am] yifanlu: there's no such thing
[08:43am] yifanlu: you can't run code
[08:43am] yifanlu: it's not an exploit
[08:44am] codezero: the psvita crashes when run many times the watchdog timer
[08:44am] yifanlu: doesn't matter
[08:44am] yifanlu: it's not an exploit
[08:44am] yifanlu: crash means nothing
[08:45am] codezero: have tried to write the dates in accident can happen if a buffer overflow out of date?
[08:46am] codezero: simulating the google server?

Some random guy on facebook just messaged me about a supposed kernel exploit or flaw (wtf? i don't know the correct term) on the Vita System. I will message the flaw to trusted devs and moderators. I do not have a hint of what he is trying to say because i dont have a vita so i will leave it to you to understand what he is saying.

So here is the conversation

Random Guy:
I found a small flaw in the software life psp
psp vita

There is a small bug in the software of life, when you put the calendar and it puts a notification dated very old then you set the notification with every day up to the maximum date of the calendar system of life crashed, is sends the signal to sony. App crashed.
I do not know if this can be useful, but it is as good as the signal.

Me:
Ahhh,ok?

Random Guy:
if you put something in the calendar and notify all day from 1 day up to the last date of maximum calendar software crashes
software calendar life can sincronizare with google maybe you can send exploits
native exploit vita

Me:
have you reported the possible flaw of the PSVita on the "Programming & Security" section of wololo forums?

Random Guy:
I do not like to take fame
you can test her with his psp is then published on the forum;)
very simple and just play with the calendar, put a notification every day, from 1 to the last day of the calendar date of the psp system and then open

Me:
ahh,ok,ill post it in the forums then but ill credit you as the one who found the flaw
can you rephrase your statement bro?

Random Guy:
before posting face a test on his console
notification must include 1 hour of every day of the calendar
then you will see that when you wait for notification time the system shuts down

Me:
ahh,ok,thanks for the info, ill try to post it in the /talk forums of wololo.net

Random Guy:
if you go you can 'accept my friendship on facebook you can' stay in contantto, you write code for a long time?

Me:
do you have an account on wololo.net?

ill post it on the forums and ill see what the devs can do
thanks for the info

Random Guy:
let me know if there is any news;)
I believe that exploiting bees google you can find a kernel exploit
ernel exploit the system of psp vita not mulator psp
kernel exploit the system pspvita not emulator psp

Me:
yah,ill inform you if there are recent findings on it

Random Guy:
ok

I'm glad you took the liberty to PM me the chatlog and then post it here after I showed exactly how it's not an exploit.
