Request for Help - Modding a .PCK file

Post by spewfr » Tue Apr 02, 2013 8:41 am

I honestly have no clue where I should have posted this. All I need is help.
I've been trying to extract files from a game (Test Drive Unlimited) for modding purposes. The file to mod is TDUPSP.PCK
I've contacted the developer, Melbourne House, as well as the publisher, Atari. Neither will give me any information.
I've searched high and low on Google looking for .PCK extractors, but none of them work or pertain to TDU for PSP

I really don't know ow to use QuickBMS, but I successfully extracted *some* files using Ravioli... They aren't even used in-game, from what I can tell.
you can download the pack here, RAR format
I don't know if it will help anybody, but I can give them the header of the PCK - it's as follows
HEADER/FIRST FEW BYTES FOUND WITH HxD
MHPF....ÞK7EJ...........xÛ...è...¨2E..3E(I..(Ù3E¶r..............
I imagine that because I attached that file above, somebody may be able to help me extract/re-pack these files... :D

Thanks!

It's part of a game, so please don't.

"I want to hack your game so please send me a tool"

There is no separate file table => lba must be in container or in eboot.

Ofc. They dont want to give you any information. You are trying to moding their game so, it's not legal. ".pck" file is probably encrypted file format firstly you should decrypt it.

Who ever said it was illegal O.o anyways,
How would I go about brute-forcing the encryption key... I'm a noob, sorry

This is true, I forgot about that  So what method do you propose I take...

Edit - I just extracted some files from the PS2 version of the game, very similar, although there are random audio clips in the PSP version, and more TGA (gimp image) files in the PS2 version... Ravioloi can take out some files, but not all, and most of them are broken anyhow. What do I do

You can patch things as they get loaded in memory (think how cwcheat works).
