Emumaster is a ripoff of Brunni's Masterboy!

Post by rainof89 »

I always wondered what was the difference until if found this post: http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... 1&start=20
Check the last post on that page

The only difference in the DATA.PSP extracted from the eboot is the name. Everything else is the same

Its a shame how people gets credit for other's people work :x

Masterboy 2.02 is the latest version from Brunni

I didnt.
I will update some of my posts and pages to take this into account. Is there more evidence?
If you need US PSN Codes, this technique is what I recommend.

This is a surprising thread for me. Not because of EmuMaster being based off Masterboy, but that it was done dishonestly. I don't remember where I first downloaded EmuMaster from, but the site I downloaded it from gave full credit to the creators of Masterboy.

I don't want to defend the creators of EmuMaster, but didn't they added nothing?

Indeed I just compared EmuMaster and MasterBoy 2.10 : identical <_<
They just changed the name and took credits

Pretty good to know though : indeed Brunni's MasterBoy is open source, and I managed to recompile a working version very easily ! So that way it can be easily debugged ^^
Unfortunately his website is currently down, but I found a copy of the src here http://www.emutopia.com/index2.php?opti ... e&id=11002

Are you thinking of doing some debugging? I've always wanted the small bug with the mono mode palettes to be fixed. Whenever you set a preset palette for a mono GameBoy game and then save the settings, once you reload the game, its back to black and white. The colorization feature was nice, but way too much effort to fully ultilise. Just wish the presets wouldn't reset.
