psp emulator for android?

Post by iJimaniac »

Wondering if one exists, if not why? Phones are plenty powerfull enough, and it would ensure psp lived on for ever, lol!

Yeah there will be once you manage to completely hack KIRK, the security chip in the PSP. Even after 7 years of its release, we know very little about it. Davee and Proxima are working on it though.

And you never wondered why there's no PSP emulator for PC (one that can play official games)? ;)

And anyway, even if Kirk was fully hacked, phones cannot emulate PSP. They're not powerful enough (yet).

AFAIK they don't run signed content.

@m0skit0, how are phones not powerfull enough yet? I thought they have superior cpus, way mor ram... Are their gpus not powerfull enough? Also does not being able to play signed games with the pc ones mean they can still play isos, right? I'm genuinely currious and know you know more about these things!

Read this: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=8259&start=40#p100073 (if you read the whole thread, better). Same applies for emulating any device on any other different hardware device.

The PSX's CPU is a MIPS R3000A-family R3051 @ 33.8688 MHz.

You need to have at least 1 GHz Snapdragon to emulate games with full speed.

The PSP's CPU(s) is a MIPS 4KE or 24KE series 32-bit (MIPS32R2 architecture) CPU split into two cores each operating between 1 and 333 MHz.

Now imagine how many GHz you need...
Woah, the psp has dual cores? I didn't realize that either! I guess Im still pretty stupid about somethings, lol!

No. It has 2 separate CPUs but one is specialized in multimedia, thus it's not really dual core.
