Video player for Half Byte Loader

Post by settlers25 »

The signed Half Byte Loader is a great pice of software!

Many thanks to the developers, you have done a fantastic job! Thx!

Now I have looked through many threads. But without finding what I look for.
Can it really be true that there is no video player two Half Byte Loader?

*I do not know if I've created this thread in the right place.

There aren't very many media players that work well with hbl. What firmware do you have? Maybe a you could use a HEN.

I am using OFW 5.35.

I have seen some Medie Player but it have 2 "Folders" PSPlayerMT% and PSPlayerMT.

I hope the HBL can run the program. :?

No it can't, that's a 1.50 kernel homebrew. Won't work on modern FWs.

Best option so far: convert your videos to PSP format (MP4) and watch them on OFW.

dang, I was really personally hoping PSPlayerMT would work... my usual option for video-conversion (FormatFactory, to be specific) doesn't seem to convert the movies properly, and Sony's Media Go software works, but the size of the movie files when it's done is four times the size of the original somehow. I'd rather just convert them (using FF, most likely) to a nice normal .mp4 or possibly DivX/XviD .avi, and play them that way.

On that note, what option are people using when it comes to conversion? Is there something better than Media Go?

Obvious, PSP's resolution is much lower than any PC. Thus video size is reduced because the frames are smaller.

Never tried Media Go, but Total Video Converter works perfectly for me.

Ahh, my apologies; I wasn't clear there... I meant the filesize itself is much, much bigger, even though it's (usually) a smaller resolution. In contrast, the videos I've converted for my BlackBerry Bold are usually much smaller, but it may be a difference in codec or whatnot. Still, the fact Media Go doesn't allow you any choices on customization (bitrate, resolution, etc.) is also annoying.

Total Video Converter, eh? I may have to check it out, even if it is commercial... still, if it works, then I'll be happy, and I have to admit FormatFactory does make me a bit nervous, given all it can do for free.

I think that's because PSP accepts only one specific format (check the console manual for more info on this).

You could always try PSP Video 9 but the size is a lot greater than the original though.......
It's free.
