Hello Arnold,
First I must say, what an amazing Shell your been working on, and such effort your putting into it! Lol I think you've won my vote.
I was wondering if this Shell had it's own unique browser? Something that surpasses the PSP's own browser?

I have always wished for that too. However, the official browser's lack of functionality is really limited by the PSP hardware.
I will look into other options for the browser though since so many people are suggesting it. :-)

How about a text editor to edit .lua and .txt files?

That would make it super cool :D

@ Zasisem,

Audio player first priority.

@ ASKidwai,

Why don't you release a 'distro' of SHELL with text editors, e.g. PSPWrite, etc. built in?
Call it the "TextEdSHELL" distro.
It's easy really with SHELL LINKS.
I do it for some friends who just use PSP to play games and their 'distro' contains emulators in SHELL LINKS. :D

Be creative. ;)

3 EASY STEPS TO MAKING A SHELL DISTRO!

1. Add the homebrews you want into a folder within the SHELL folder. e.g. ms0:/SHELL/EMUDISTRO with folders for each emulator.

ms0:/SHELL/EMUDISTRO/gpsp
ms0:/SHELL/EMUDISTRO/dx64
ms0:/SHELL/EMUDISTRO/cpsp
etc.

2. Create SHELL LINKS (with any text editor such as notepad) and put them into User Favourites folders in the SHELL folder. i.e. ms0:/SHELL/User Favourites/sample_link.shlk

A sample SHLK is this:

Code: Select all

[SHELL_LINK]
version=1
title=gpSP
path=ms0:/SHELL/EMUDISTRO/gpsp/EBOOT.PBP
argc=0
argp=0
icon=ms0:/SHELL/EMUDISTRO/gpsp/EBOOT.PNG
You must have an icon for the SHELL LINK!

Save the file with .shlk extension. e.g. gpsp-original-v9.shlk

3. Test that it all works in SHELL!

Of course, optionally, you can then release it! (We hope you do though ;) )

Someone should make a constantly maintained SHELL Distro that contains Genesis Competition Entries. :D

How to load plugins in SHELL in 3 SIMPLE Steps

1. Copy the plugin (some CFW ones may work, this may include remotejoy :) Someone test it please) to anywhere you want in the same device you installed SHELL. (ms0)

2. Open the file ms0:/SHELL/plugins.txt

3. Edit the file like seplugins with the path to the plugin followed by the state (0 = off, 1 = on) and save.

e.g.

Code: Select all

ms0:/seplugins/shellclock.prx 1
Start up SHELL and there you have it!

Note: Not all Custom Firmware plugins will be compatible. Many should be compatible. Developers are encouraged to use the SDK to develop plugins for SHELL.

Have fun! :)
