Pandorizing a Slim Battery In A Phat

Post by ruyor »

WARNING: Read this entire tutorial before doing it!

---Information---

Do you have a Slim that isn't capable of making a Pandora Battery? Do you also have a Phat? This tutorial will teach you how to Pandorize a 1200 mAh (Slim) battery using a Phat that can run homebrew.

---Pandorizing A Slim Battery Using A Phat---

1. Completely discharge the Slim battery you want to softmod (the Phat can overcharge Slim batteries making them useless for 2-3 days or forever)

2. Take out the Phat's battery

3. Plug in AC Adapter

4. Run OSPBT
Download Here

5. After it starts, you'll see this:

6. Right before you "Press X to continue", hold the Slim battery so the terminals make contact, you'll know when it's connected because the charge light will come on (you can't fully put a 1200 mAh battery in a Phat), then press X to continue, the battery should look like this:

5. Choose "Convert to service mode"

6. As soon as it's done, remove the Slim battery and exit OSPBT

So far I've done this on 2 batts, and it worked on both.

Note: Not all 1200 mAh batteries can be Pandorized, Softmod or Hardmod

nice tut ... i didnt even think that was actually physically possible to do but hey ... i useually just do it the other way around tho, using a phat's pandora and then plug in the chrarger and change battery after a pandora boot (if i dont just wait and change after flashing) ... but i see the potential of this if someone wants to be able to dualboot or whatever, even tho it looks kinda risky ... are u sure about the overcharging problem tho, and does that mean a 2000 will only charge to 1200mha?

i was just assuming that it charged to a specific voltage insted ...

The Phat doesn't know what to do with a 1200mAh, which is why it overcharges it and can't run off of one (The original stand-alone battery charger (the fold-in prong one in the US) also doesn't work with the 1200mAh). You can use a 1200 mAh to jump-start a Phat in service mode as long as the charger is plugged in.

I have overcharged one of my 1200mAh batts twice using this method (I've done 2 1200 mAh batts total), and it didn't do anything until it sat on a shelf for a few days, but it still works :P

A 2000/3000 (and the newer stand-alone charger that uses a cable) can charge all of the official batteries correctly to their working capacity.

Here's a picture showing compatible batteries that can or can't be pandorized:

That doesn't cover the PSP-110S (which is the official 1200mAh and what this tut is all about). Older ones are and newer ones are not, I don't know if there is a noticeable difference between them or not.
