It would be useful since the games aren't avaiable anymore.

Apples and oranges here dear sir.
High end mobiles get replaced by higher end mobiles within 10 months of their launch, but consoles stay for a solid 5 years before the arrival of their successors, and take quite some time to become totally obsolete after getting replaced.
On the other hand, consoles are only good for playing movies, unless you purchase games for them, which are quite dear. In the long run, a mobile phone will add functionality and practicality to your life, but the games on that platform are completely meaningless and non rewarding. (Much like real life)
Games on consoles, although money & time consuming, give a much more immersive and rewarding experience than a mobile phone can ever give. (Obviously excluding a few cases from both platforms)
