Is it worth playing PSP in 2020?

I was going to fix my PSP's screen and download some games for it but I'm worried Sony might get rid of the download list soon seeing as it's nearly 16 years old now. They already did away with transferring games from PC via MediaGo and transferring from PS3 might not be an option soon because the PS3 probably doesn't have long left either with the PS5 around the corner.

Probably not, even if you had access to the PSN the PSP is a super outdated device. You would need to CFW your console and manually import your games. Most of us play PSP games on the Vita through Adrenaline.

It's weird. I feel as though I am one of the only developers still working.

It's unfortunate that this console is on its way out. Still one of the best portable console in my opinion, with homebrew and emulation.

yes, why not?

i love my psp3000, the scanlines make it perfect to run emulators and have the same effect on screen, with no filter or overlay, lol

cps1-cps2 run very good, from zip roms directly.

other emulators run good too.

The PSP finds a new lease on life as an emulation device for older consoles (e.g. Nintendo, SEGA). It's still kicking in the retro gaming community.

For playing actual PSP games, you will need CFW and ISO dumps. I still enjoy exclusive PSP titles and mainstream games I was not able to play on the PS3 or PC.
