I saw a mode when the circle on the back of the psp( on the umd reader) was changed to a speedometer-like clock.
It was amazing! without any bright leds. Simple and also practical.
PS:the umd reader was also working!(just if you thought it was replaced)

are there any TUT's on how to put LED's in a psp?
