psp pro after any install device turns off [SOLVED]

Post by OmeyOcan »

Hello.

I have a problem and don't know anymore what to do.
If I want to install "psp pro update" (http://wololo.net/downloads/index.php/download/929) I don't get to install menu.
Every update just turns off the PSP and does nothing. That started to apper after a friend formated the memory stick and tried to install an older version of "psp pro update" because he did not know he has to update every time he turns on the PSP.

My system software version is 6.60, I have PSP 2003.
I formated the memory stick and tried to install different versions of psp pro update. Nothing changed.
I downgraded software version to 6.20 and upgraded it again on 6.60. Nothing changed.
Always the same... when I start it under Games, Mamory Stick, pro Update, it starts but there is no install menu, the PSP just turns off after a while and does nothing to the system.
Looks like this: https://youtu.be/fDE2AOc9msw

Please help. I have no idea what to do.

Thank you for reading ;)

Making pressure on a spot on PSP helps: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=22543#p215680
I am terribly sorry for not finding this before.
But it helps only sometimes and you have to be really exact with the presure. Any ideas why is that? Is this a hardware problem? Can I fix it?

It does not help me with 6.60 system software update. It still pops up an error at 89% but my psp thankfully works after.

I installed pro-C2 permament patch and now I have to press on the spot mentioned above every time I turn on my psp.
This is so weird. Can anyone tell me what the reason is? Are the connection to the sd card bad and when I pres it together they connect? Or is is anything else? I know it is hardware.
After I press on the spot everything works... games... everything. But it is a bit anoying to do that all the time because it does not work every time :)

so now you are on 6.20^^ maybe some plugins were not compatible to 6.60 have you disabled them?
Whatever thinking 6.20 is also a good choise; perma patch maybe for more advanced people.
To your connector Pins maybe try to clean them or try to fit some paper or scott tap on the upside of your MS ;)

!!! [ SOLVED ] !!!

PSP Slim
Motherboard model: TA-085 v2
Motherboard type: Slim 2003 (02g)
UMD firmware ver.: 1,240ANov10 ,2006
PSP verison: Slim v1.1

After years of use, PSP started acting weird. Every time I try to start an application (games, programs, updates...) the PSP just shuts down. It also makes noises like it is trying to read UMD every time I run something, you can hear that on this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDE2AOc9msw

Things I tried to reapir it:
- I did not installed any plugins
- reset device
- format memory stick with windows and PSP
- downgrade to 6.20
- upgrade to 6.60
- hellcast recovery flasher
- psp key cleaner

then I found the [ SOLUTION ]
- making pressure on a exact spot of the PSP housing
you have to keep pressure with your finger on the right PSP button and ALSO some of the housing under right PSP button
like shown here: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=22543#p215680

After making pressure there, the noises of UMD stops and everything works fine. But you have to make pressure there all the time to make it work wich can get anoying as it does not work every time.

My [ SOLUTION ] to this was cuting some thin rubber/foam (2 peaces) and puting it on a chip inside PSP.
how to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGRV9KX3btk
First you have to disassemble the PSP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbnsYBMfkzc to get to the motherboard. After that you put the rubber/foam on the chip and assemble the PSP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpdEW7O3HE0
Please be extra carefull when you do this. Disassemble the PSP on a clean surface so in case a screw or a connector peace drops out of PSP you don't loose it or forget to place it back ...there is this rubbery thingy on the connector of PSP joystick wich fall off and I did not noticed. All games were then going right and the joystick was not working. It took some time for me to figure out what went wrong as I am not an expert :)

Now everything works! Also the noises of UMD spining are gone.

Thank you everybody for help! I also hope people who have tha same problem will find this and fix it :)
