I like the idea of the game. To me, I can't stand those games that don't support my custom sensitivity and inverting the y axis.

Have they changed the suit systems yet? Wait who am i kidding having to buy the same piece of equipment 50 times as each death counts as the loss of a suit.... is exactly how it works in EvE as well.

I disliked that, do the math with a fully $ only set - which will most definately be what everyone is kitted in for competative matches. Expensive.

On another note - a warning to everyone playing Dust 514 that you may one day appreciate but probably wont heed at the moment....

Spy's. Everywhere. Expect them, Expect sabotage, expect to be fighting a big group that represents/works for or - is the subdevision of a big corporation in eve, that you are using voice chat and coordinating, yet the enemy will seem to know exactly what you are doing and begin to counter while you are still rolling out.

Alot of people in EvE take the game very seriously, many wars are won and lost without need for actual fighting in the end - a spy, or defector can take down an empire. For the other many times there is fighting involved, spy's play a huge role tatically the same way - having a mole in the group of the people they are fighting actively relaying orders back to their friends.

An example of this would be an entire fleet fitted for say short or long range, with the plan being to have a cloaked ship get in close to allow the friendly fleet to warp in at optimal firing range. The enemy knows this, and knows when you start heading to them for the fight, they fit out for a complete counter to what you have, and are able to setup defensively quite well as they'd know what direction you were coming from. If you were getting a jump portal in the spy could be even more devistating, turning what the opposing fleet thinks will be a great battle into an utter deathtrap.

The ability to do that is why eve is quite popular, and trust me those tactics are utalised on all levels big and small. It WILL happen in Dust 514 becuase without materials from planets, there's no manufacturing to make POS fuel. No POS fuel? No POS's (Player owned Stations, they orbit the moons on planets and allow you to setup a mini-base there) - no manufacturing out in 0.0 where your cutoff from the rest of the empire, and more importantly, your nor able to make Capital or Super Capitals. The urgency of pos fuels step up a notch if one of those big shiny ships is "cooking in the oven" (manufacturing) as it can take months to make all the components then a month or so to actualy put the ship together. If the POS runs out of fuel while something is manufacturing, everything gets shut down, and it cancels the manufacturing, all the materials are lost/destroyed as well, and the stuff that was inside the shields completely vulnerable to attack by anyone.

Conquerable planets out in 0.0 have the highest yeilds for resources, compared to the inner space that's NPC owned, where planets are over-mined because of the number of players using them combined with low yield (the more people harvesting stuff on one planet = the less harvestable resources you gain) It will add another dimension to the warfare as someone getting attacked but doing well to defend against it, they'd send in the DustBunnies to attack on another front, combine that with making it difficult to jump resources in because of bogies in the system and the expense of the jumpfreighters, and you've effectively started chipping away at their defenses from the inside.

Just noting again, the ONLY way to get POS fuel is from the materials harvested from planets. This is how you DustBunnies are going to be able to make your dent in the Eve universe, along with assiting empires rise and fall from the planet's surface.

So if you get into serious battles with the big names, and possibly smaller ones, keep an ear out for the ones that play EvE as well as Dust, be carefull with who has CEO of your merc corp, they can be disbanded in an instant and all of your previously owned planets will reset back to unclaimed, and dont have any shame or bad feelings about using the same tactics back on them and rival merc corps, or you will be giving yourself one heck of an unfair handicap.

To be honest I love EVE. Except for the fact that the servers are bad. I like to play the game with what it comes with. I don't bother much with paying for extra gear unless its free.

Normally I receive a ton of free stuff from Sony.
