Help? gpSP on Vita with Henkaku+VHBL fails to save.

Since mGBA is a pile of *** (for the time being... can't wait to switch over to it in the future when it's finished!) I'm using VHBL to load gpsp, which loads and plays GBA roms flawlessly, except... It can't save, it just says save failed (or whatever the message that game has for the fail) however, save states do work perfectly fine.

One of my favourite games of all time however, is Megaman Battle Network 3 Blue, which has multiple NG+'s in it, and requires an actual save file, and not a save state.
^ And this is not the only game with the issue, it will not save any game at all. But states all work, which I do not want anyways...

The dir.cfg is pointing to the correct locations.
What else could I missing here to fix this? I can't find anything online for the issue.

which version of gpsp are you using? there's one built specifically for vhbl. the one most point to using is ver 3.4 test 152, and you have to move the emulator to PSP/GAME instead of PSP/VHBL

That's the version I'm using, 3.4 test 152, I got it from the "master emu pack" on one of the VHBL pages here.

And I have moved the it to /GAME/, where the emulator actually started working, but not saving.
And I've tried a few other locations just see, and updated the dir.cfg accordingly each time.

Still won't save though... Currently I'm building my own custom install.zip instead of using the one supplied. Just to see if it makes any difference...

I got the same problem with Megaman Battle Network 6, however it didn't even give an error or anything. I got a ton of progress, turned off the Vita, and when I came back it was all gone.

Well I just finished creating my own install.zip, and then let it install.

Everything runs fine, but of course... it still won't save anything...

Previously, I had not been using install.zip, I just stuck the folder in and fired it up. Always worked fine, minus saving...

So it seems neither method is allowing any saves at all...

Try this.
Open GPSP, go to misc options and see if update sram is set of exit only or automatic. If it's exit only, set to automatic then quit GPSP via the main menu quit option then close VHBL with triangle (Because if u reopen GPSP immediately after closing it **** up)
Then reopen VHBL and GPSP and see if the option stayed to automatic. If it did try saving.

All my settings are how I set them earlier, scaling, controls, etc. All the same.
However the sram settings have reverted back to exit only, and I tried a few times to make sure, it will not save it as automatic.

Mine seems set to automatic some how but I do remember having issues getting it to stick.
If you want, perhaps I can just bundle my copy of GPSP with my settings and toss em to you and see if it helps. If I can even do that.
This build isn't require me to install in a zip just drop in there.

After messing about with everything, it seems to not matter in the slightest if I use the install.zip, or just toss the folders in there as-is.
I've even tried manually creating my own zip, or folder.

So if I could get a copy of known working files, that actually can use the in-game saves. It'd be much appreciated. Assuming that it's the emu that's the issue, it should be easy enough to get it working with new files.

============

Double post but... After fiddling some games save, some won't now.
I just managed to get a save to successfully work on Golden Sun, but Donkey Kong still refuses.

... Triple post. Is that frowned upon here? If so, sorry buuut...

Now that I'm getting some games to save, it seems the ones that are NOT saving, are actually creating save files in the proper directory, although the filesize does not match any working saves, and it doesn't read them as save files, and when it does make these files I get "Save failed" or "game not saved" or whatever other failure message from the game itself.

That's correct. I'd recommend against using the install.zip method which is just adding extra pain for no benefit at this point: copy the files to your Vita with an FTP client, and do not use VHBL's own install method.

Also since you're new, a friendly warning: avoid creating multiple threads for the same problem, and please be respectful of the work of homebrew creators (in that case, I think your comment about mGBA is completely uncalled for.)
