True Overclocking Possible?

Post by fpsfr3ak »

I was just wondering what was stopping devs from going beyond the "max frequency" 444 MHz? Anyone able to shed light on this? I know beatplay had the code setup for it but then deleted it once he released the code to github. I think it would be super cool to have a 111 MHz overclock for a speed of 555!

Sincerely, Skwiggz.

PS. Is there a way to change my username to Skwiggz?

No idea on the subject but what's the point in changing the username? With only this one post I'd say just make a new account xD

On some Android TV boxes with closed or partially closed source kernels the frequency and voltages values (DVFS) are hard coded. And sometimes the chip silicon itself simply won't run any faster without shrinking the size of the transistors (not an option obviously) or increasing the voltage (and heat produced substantially). Cutting a hole on the top of a PS TV and attaching a tiny fan might be (hilarious and) practical, but on the handheld console not so much.

But with the number of skilled developers working on the Vita I'd think it's probably not possible.
