Yes, I know. But I'd rather just use the game I have now.
The .ELF file I am using is called PSCD_200.04, from the game American Idol. It uses the eyetoy cameo application.
From the American Idol Home Menu, go to "edit characters" then go to "eyetoy cameo".
The "eyetoy cameo" menu is a yes/no screen, telling you that once you go into the application, the game will restart.
The same happens with the Network Connection screen for most Online games.
The only difference being, This is eyetoy cameo. The elf file is not NETGUI.ELF, but rather PSCD_200.04. Just a different application, and different name.
Same results apply

If you don't think this will work, tell me why; I have a few days before I am actually going to try and do this.
In order for my backed up copy (with uLaunchElf installed on it) to run, do I need to ESR patch it?

Cheers for now!

It sounds like it should work, and you don't need to patch the disc with the uLaunchELF installed. Best of luck! :)

Thanks!
So does FreeMcBoot just run off of the memory card?
If so, if I remove the memory card will it go back to the original menu?
And how do I install new .ELF files to the menu after I install FreeMcBoot?

Free McBoot runs off the memory card, so if you turn on your PS2 without it in, then it will be the original start-up menu. To add .ELF files, you would have to download them to your USB stick. You can boot it off the USB using uLaunchELF, or move it to your memory card using uLaunchELF. If you want it to display on your Free McBoot menu, then I will probably make a tutorial, it's a slightly longer process.

Hey again :)
I used the uLaunchElf file on my new disk and it wouldn't run :(
Do I have to use a DVD-R instead of a DVD+R?
I sent my dad out to get me a few DVD-R's because the ones I used didn't work. (DVD-R's)
Anything else I should watch out for?

Hmm.. What do you mean it "wouldn't run"? Like, it just didn't run the uLaunchELF program or the screen was black or what? You could try to use a DVD+R. Also, what brand are the discs? Sometimes bad quality discs don't like to work.

When I put in the new burned disk (swapped) and selected the ELF via the game menu, the screen went black and then came to the RSOD.
I think the problem is that I am trying to swap a DVD-R disk (original) with a DVD+R disk (backup/burned).
The PS2 might have a little pet peeve about that ;) Right??
PS2 games are in DVD-R format i believe, and on lots of other tuts they show using a DVD-R.
Correct?
Thanks for your time :)

EDIT - My disks that I am burning to are:
Memorex
DVD+R
8x Writing Speed (I think)
4.7 gig
Oh *** I think they might be RW

Ohh, I don't think the PS2 can read the RW, I'm not sure about the -R +R thing. Did you swap the disks right before you clicked the eyetoy program (like the menu of the game)?

Did you use -R or +R?

I swear I swapped right at the correct time.
It says:
SETUP CHARACTER
EyeToy(R): Cameo
To create a new EyeToy(R): Cameo head, you must exit Karaoke Revolution Presents: American idol entirely and launch the EyeToy(R): Cameo suite.
Do you want to continue?

| Y E S | | N O |

I click YES, AFTER swapping, and It goes to the RSOD.

So for a game on CD you must use a CD-R, and for a game on DVD you must use a DVD-R.
Apparently, according to him I need DVD-R :)
